About Us
Red Bus carries 5.8 million passengers each year.
A Council Controlled-Trading Organisation (CCTO), all of the Red Bus shares are held by Christchurch City Holdings Ltd, which in turn is owned by the Christchurch City Council.
We have a staff of 260 including 227 drivers (full-time, part-time and casual), 10 workshop staff and 23 in the corporate office.
Red bus places a strong emphasis on driver development and we run an in-house training school to provide NZQA-certified bus driver training.

Our Fleet
Red Bus operates a modern, easy access, low emission fleet of 167 buses from a central city depot. Our in-house workshop maintains our fleet to a high standard for safety and availability.
Our commitment to the environment
Red Bus joined the CCC Target Sustainability Programme in 2008. Our objective was to reduce waste sent to landfill.

Employment
Working as a bus driver is a great way to meet people and contribute to our city. We are looking for people who are friendly and want to deliver excellent service to our customers. You also need to be prepared to work rostered shifts.
To be a driver, you need to hold a current Class 2 licence, with a P endorsement and some experience driving heavy vehicles in urban areas.
Our training course is fully accredited with the NZQA and supported by the Tranzqual ITO. All new drivers qualify for a National Certificate in Passenger Services (Large Passenger Vehicle) on completion of the training course. Currently 80% of Red Bus Limited drivers hold this qualification. You still get paid while you complete the training.
