Red Bus is Green
For a start one full bus takes about 40 cars off the road which is a line of cars about 200 metres long.
But this is not enough for us we are involved in a number of different programmes to make Red Bus an environmentally friendly company.
At present over 79% of the fleet meets or exceeds the Euro II standard for low emission diesel vehicles and we are working to improve this percentage . We are also very interested in alterative fuel options and are hoping to see fuels that stack-up both environmentally and competitively soon.
Changes in our office and driver preparation areas practises have lead to a huge decrease in the amount of rubbish we sent to landfill. Our aim is to reduce office waste by 50%. We recyle used lubricants and metal components.
Our Sustainability Team is also working on a programme to save on the amount of water we use and have begun a process to identify ways we can reduce our power consumption.
They are also looking at way Red Bus can improve the health and wellbeing of our staff.
