A key focus of the tours is what the future holds for the CBD, including plans for redevelopment.
Tours include video footage and commentary from a Canterbury Museum guide who is available to answer questions.
The Red Zone tours operate 7 days a week.
Duration is 30-40 minutes.
Under-15-years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (a maximum of five under-15-year-olds per parent or guardian).
Bookings essential. No cash sales on bus. Tickets may be purchased online, by phone 0800 500 929 or from the i-Site Visitor Centre in Rolleston Avenue (next to the Museum). Sales are not available from i-Site within 10 minutes of the departure time.
The tour departs from Rolleston Avenue, outside the Canterbury Museum. Passengers must report 10 minutes prior to departure time.
Passenger safety is of the utmost importance to Red Bus. No effort is spared to ensure maximum safety . A Safety Information card can be found in the seat pocket in front of you on the bus. Once on board the bus, it is important that you read this carefully, take note of the safety features, and all restrictions on behaviour.
CERA regulations require you to follow all safety procedures outlined in the safety document, safety briefing and instructions given by Red Bus staff.
Before taking the tour, people will be required to accept and acknowledge Red Bus’ terms and conditions and sign or confirm a customer declaration. Terms and conditions specify the risks of entering the red zone, and remove liability from Red Bus for any losses and damages incurred on the tour.

You will be able to disembark at the Catholic Cathedral for photos and at other points from the bus.
